Here at the Thornhill Arms, Calverley, we strive to deliver beautiful in a beautiful setting. Using fresh local produce, the Thornhill Arms offers delicious pub food, served to a very high standard. Our menu ranges from snacks, to old traditional pub classics, right through to our A la Carte options.We have recently refurbished the pub, bringing a more modern feel to this traditional building. We have a large function room on offer that is perfect for any special occasion, and we also have a beautiful outdoor dining and drinking area - perfect for when the sun comes out! Built over 400 years ago, originally called The Leopard, the Thornhill still retains some of the originally built features, including a stone entrance dating back to 1673 inscribed with W.C. and F.C. after Walter Caverley and his wife Francis Caverley.It has been said that there are secret tunnels running from the pub down to Kirkstall Abbey built many years ago by the monks. There are some sealed off areas of the cellars that have not been opened for many years - adding some mystery to the building and helping to create its unique atmosphere!

Jewel of India

The Jewel of India is a family-owned Asian restaurant in the centre of Otley, in West Yorkshire. We have been here since 1982 although we opened our first eatery in 1979, the International in Bradford. Since then we′ve launched ones in York, Silver Spoon in Guiseley, Gulshan in Yeadon and most recently Westbourne Spice between Otley and Menston.We have 34-seats downstairs plus a further 38 upstairs for large groups or private dining, and we are able also to provide catering for events such as wedding or birthdays."We use only the finest ingredients and traditional herbs and spices in the preparation of our food to help create an authentic taste of India which, we believe, can′t be matched anywhere else."We have an exclusive menu to choose from with a wide choice of vegetarian dishes; I hope you will experience a memorable style of Indian cooking prepared exactly to your taste."Customer care is of the highest of priority, so please don′t hesitate to ask for help with the menu. We will do our utmost to make your visit a pleasurable experience; and if a particular dish is not on the menu our head chef will be more than happy to prepare it for you."Our takeaway food is prepared in exactly the same way as that eaten in the restaurant and delivery is free on order over £10 within a four-mile radius, ie Burley, Menston, Pool-in-Wharfedale, Bramhope and Guiseley. We also offer free delivery to Yeadon and Rawdon on orders over £20. We′ll also give you a complimentary bottle of wine if your order is over £20 and you collect it or £30 if we deliver.We also stock a large range of beers, wines, spirits and liquors. Our beers include Cobra, Kingfisher and Carlsberg, while our wines take in reds, whites, and rosé from around the world, and we also keep a selection of sparkling wines and Champagnes.If it′s your birthday or a special occasion we′ll provide a complimentary cake to your party (groups of four or more), but please let us know at least two weeks in advance.Over the year’s we′ve played host to many local charities and events such as Otley Courthouse, Otley & District Riding for the Disabled, Behind Closed Doors, Otley Action for Older People, plus the annual Pool Feast and Otley RUFC.
